Dear devotees
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

As for what tents we should have next year I thought to have it discussed amongst ourselves here.

Lalita Gopinatha Mataji already wrote:

'. Speaking of tent layout- there should be a separate tent next year, behind/to the side of the stage- where the performers can change. Also, the info tent should NOT be where th sound man is. We can have prasadam for sale where the sound man is instead-- it might keep him awake if there is good food about :-D. The childrens tent should be in a visual area without anything else 'combined' with it.'

With these suggestions we need to buy at least two new tents at a cost of approx 2500DKK per tent (if we want the same kind of tents as we have now.) If the info tent is combined with Q&A fx then it would be best placed to the side of the stage and there is no space for the soundman, neither can he do his job properly from there. I hope we can get permission from Parasurama Prabhu so that the artist can change in his car, this would be convenient. I can inquire about this myself. If so then we could make do with one tent and in that tent we could have the sound man and a prasadam booth.

For long term vision I would like to see that we the following tents:

Sari-tent: We could have a tent where women can try on saris. This is a big hit in Poland. It could be combined with a booth from a 'saridealer' in Copenhagen, and his contribution would likely pay most of the tents, one of our devotees could evt. help in putting the Saris on and explaining about the devotional aspects of the dress and culture.

Ayurvedic-tent: Maybe some of our capacities within Ayurveda fx Ole Alstrup would like to give some of his advice concerning ayurveda at the festival, some books and products could be sold concerning ayurveda.

Astrology-jyotish:
Again a big hit in Poland. They have a competent astrologer there taking care of the tent, maybe the Polish festival committee could help us in contacting an eligible astrologer. A devotee astrologer can give powerful devotional instructions through the medium of astrology and itself demonstrates the richness of the Vedic culture.

Exhibitions-tent: Ive considered the option of a free-standing exhibitiondisplay (then no need of tent) but have had a hard time finding something that looks good for a reasonable price. It does seem like an option to have a big tent as the other and put some posters with frames in it, and there is our exhibition.

Any further suggestions?

Have you seen this link prabhu? If you are thinking of fantastic presentation ideas regarding tents, check this out from devotees in Radhadesh Bhakt. coll.

If there is one good tent to have- its something like this! Red, catchy, and fun to look at! I would also suggest having the prasadam tent facing strøget where the most people are probably coming from....or at least have a catchy sign on the back of the existing tent. Anyway, some good ideas on this sight.

As for extra tents, it sounds like a good idea but if we are speaking about not being able to afford a good stage, how can we afford for these extra tents?

Also there is talk that we only get HALF the size of what we have now. I hope no one is seriously considering cutting the stage for a few more tents either....:-)

I know you mention that this indian gentleman would pay for most of the tents with his being allowed to have a sari tent- but he gets most of the profits as well....Can we not do this ourselves with saris, jewellery etc. on 'consignment' from this indian gentleman? WE then make a good percentage of the laksmi instead of him. :-D

I would also expect that more ladies would be interested in looking after such a tent than perhaps other tents. We also have Parasurama pr's wife Moksa Laksmi mtj who could sell her stuff with a percentage going to our temple- since we will be doing the selling for her ;-) Satya might be interested in this as she runs the temple shop. If I am there, I wouldnt mind doing the 'trying on a sari' bit for some of the time.

I like the idea of expansion, in any case.

In the spirit of thinking BIG....

Hare Krishna Prabhus,
In my opinion the above ideas are very good. The ayurvedic tent could perhaps be combined with vegetarian cooking, perhaps Dandaniti mataji would like to sell her cook book from there, one could give out the recipes of the khichdi, papad and halwa that we would be distributing for free.

Perhaps Lalitanatha and Gaura Natraj Prabhus can give us some ideas on how to go about putting up the exhibits. Quite a few big temples like the Radha Rasabihari temple in Juhu have one tent only for the exhibits.

The astrologer at Woodstock charges some lakshmi for his services, that should be allright as he can then cover the cost of his tent and hopefully contribute some donation to the festival.

I heard there is a book on management from Harikesa Swami's times, which says that festivals in ISKCON should be making money on their own and not depend on the temple. Also if the festival of India/ Ratha yatra festival is financially independent and self sufficient, like it has been so far, we can then expand to accommodate many wonderful new ideas and thus increase the preaching.
